By February 2008, Kunsel Kyetsal was fully funded, and the final books and supplies purchased.  Thanks to our many kind and generous donors, and our dedicated and hardworking project management team, we completed our first project and fulfilled our promise to the Tibetan community in Golok.  We give our deepest thanks to everyone who helped us achieve this worthy goal! 

On July 29, 2007 the new building we have funded on the campus of Golok’s only Tibetan high school was inaugurated.  The speech that Sogan Rinpoche gave to the gathering at the inauguration ceremonies will be posted on this page shortly.  At that time, the project’s provisional name, the Tibetan Institute of Science of Technology, was replaced with its beautiful new title:  bod yig mtho rim slob ’bring kun gsal skyed tshal khang, which translates to the “Pleasure Garden of Full Knowledge Golok Tibetan High School.” For ease of reference, we are calling this project Kunsel Kyetsal, a shortened and Anglicized version of the Tibetan name.

Thanks to our supporters, the new school building was completed and passed its final inspection on October 14, 2006.  Click here to see photos of the beautiful new building!  (Posted 12/6/06)

This Spring we met our fundraising target for phase II of the TIST project, which will enable us to complete the structure as scheduled by the Fall of 2006.  Together with a grant of approximately $50,000 pledged by Golok’s local government, $259,000 has been raised to complete the TIST.  Work on the building resumed in April, and our project management team sent current photos of progress in early June.  Check back—the photos will be posted to our Construction Progress page imminently.

Our campaign is now underway to raise funds for the final phase of the project:  procuring and installing all of the equipment to make the TIST a fully operational center of instruction, including books for its library, supplies, furnishings and computers.  Please consider a contribution now to help us open the TIST doors as scheduled in the Fall of 2007!  (Posted 6/10/06)

Thank you to everyone who participated in our First Annual Silent Auction at Tibet Day on November 20th!  From our committed volunteers, to our generous donors and enthusiastic bidders, congratulations and thanks to all for making the event a wonderful success.

The Golden Gate Club, San Francisco
A TIST benefit that will include a slide show presentation on Golok and a silent auction.  There will surely be many good deals to be had!  This event will be held in conjunction with the annual Tibet Fair at the Golden Gate Club in San Francisco’s Presidio.  The Tibet Fair will be held from 10 A.M. - 7 P.M.  Time and more details about the silent auction will be forthcoming.  Check back soon!
